Lithium-Ion Batteries - Challenges for Automotive Applications

Shortage of oil resource, legislative factors and global urbanization will significantly drive the electrification of automotive powertrains within the next few years. The probably most significant component of hybrid- and electric vehicles is the battery.

Only Li-Ion technology provides the necessary power and energy densities, which are needed for an enduring success of power train electrification. This presentation shows possible market scenarios for hybrid- and electric vehicles and preconditions to be fulfilled by Li-Ion batteries as well as the battery suppliers in order to realize these market scenarios.
